Happy Mothers Day

I want to take a moment to say Happy Mothers Day to those living in extreme poverty. We see you, we hear you and we are sending you strength and hope for change.

We applaud you for your resilience, your faith, your strength to carry on daily in spite of the struggles.     Born into a country with policies that keep the most vulnerable in a state of desperate hunger and need.

We are sending love today for the moms living in extreme poverty who:

    • are feeling disappointed that their baby daddy simply walked away and pays nothing.
    • are feeling guilty as they search for food for their kids.
    • feel deep sadness when looking in the eyes of their kids knowing they cannot provide the very basics for them today, like a nutritious meal.
    • are carrying deep shame when their children cannot participate in school activities, are sleeping on mats on a floor, have to poop in a bucket or bag,  or wear shoes that don’t fit.
    • feel terror when their child becomes sick as they now have to choose between food or medicine.
    • live under a deep and generational ignorance that is passing to their children, as there seems to be no other options.
    • feel loneliness, living invisible in a society that seems to ignore their situation. Whose policies only leave heavier weights on their shoulders.
    • fear their kids will turn to criminal activities in order to survive.
    • have lost hope that things can change, that don’t have the resources alone to make those changes.  The path out seems insurmountable.

There are poor and then there are extreme poor. Our foundation deals with extreme poor.

Our goal is to help them build pathways out of poverty for lasting change.
