Single Mom Support Group

Single Mom Support Group

raised funds 20%

More than 30% of the families in the barrio where our foundation office is located are single parent homes.

We witnessed that the children in the street that appear most frail, anemic, with lice or scabies, in dirty or ill-fitted clothing, at times bare foot in the mud, were most often from these single mom homes.

They are at a disadvantage in multiple ways, as many do not attend school regularly.  They cannot afford the list of school supplies, uniforms nor do they have consistent access to food to provide breakfast or lunch.  Going to school hungry makes learning difficult.

The first single mother support group meeting took place on May 2, 2021.    We meet 2-hours bi-weekly on a wide range of topics.     Click here for the back story on why and how the single mother group came to be.

our main goals

To keep the program operating twice a month we require $250 per month.   These are the costs for meeting materials, transportation, drinking water and snacks.   This is for the current group size of 26 moms.   There is a wait list to join, but we don’t have the resources to grow the size of the group just yet.

If we can meet our goal, we can continue ongoing support that includes but is not limited to:

Yes, I want to help!
